Day Visit to the World Scout Jamboree

We visited the World Scout Jamboree site at Hylands Park in Essex on Saturday 4th August.

The site was massive, and a lot of work had obviously been done to make it into a venue for 40,000 Scouts. We went to the lunchtime show in the arena, visited the Mountain Hub where Lawrence was based and looked at a small fraction of the many displays.

It was rather overwelming (but at the same time pleasing) to see all the different Scouts from so many different countries. Grace was given a worry doll by a Scout from Guatemala, Elspeth had some Henna painted on her hand by a Sudanese Scout Leader, Eric was paired with a Cub Scout from Cwmbran in Wales to do Crate Stacking, and I swapped badges with an American Scout Leader.
