County Orienteering Competition
On the morning of Saturday 10th October Cubs and Scouts from 1st Great Missenden competed in the annual
County Orienteering Competition in Wendover Woods.
This is a regular feature in our programme. The Scouts compete in pairs and go round the course searching for
the markers and trying to get round in the fastest time. It is a good chance to get outdoors and practise
map-reading and compass skills and also get a bit of exercise.
When the teams get back there is soup and bread available, and sometimes also hot dogs to buy while they wait
for others to return and see who has the quickest time.
There is a Scout trophy for the fastest Scout pair, and also a trophy for the Scout Group that has the fastest
time from the Cub event, Scout event and Explorer event.
