District Night Hike
A Night Hike where the Scouts competed in teams of 4-6 people, and completed various challenges on the way
round. We had two teams in the competition - the A team (team 8) was made up from the Wolves Patrol and the B
team (team 9) was Cobras and Kestrels.
We met at Braidwood on Friday evening to get into teams and have a kit check. Then we set of round the course,
stopping at six checkpoints on the way where we had various tasks to complete, such as a morse code exercise, a
quiz and some rope work. We reached the finish some five hours later, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
After a hot drink the Scouts settled into their sleeping bags and either watched the film that was playing while
they waited for the other teams to return, or went straight to sleep. Breakfast was a sausage in a bun and then
the Scouts went home at 8.30 am.

As it was Red Nose Day, some of the Scouts did the hike as a sponsored activity. You can see the groups page on
the Red Nose Day site by clicking the sponsor online link above. As well as raising money for Comic Relief,
getting sponsored also counted towards the Global Challenge.
