Delivering the Scout Christmas Post
We joined other members of the Scout Group to deliver Christmas Cards to just over 400 addresses in the village.
All Scouts that took part earned some more community service hours for their
Community Challenge, and bonus points for
turning out and delivering the Scout Post in such snowy conditions when even the Royal Mail were struggling with
deliveries.

Selling Stamps for the Scout Christmas Post
We met in the morning to sell stamps in the High Street, and then again in the evening to sell more
at the Dickensian/Late Night Shopping Evening. We also sold stamps and Christmas cards at our Booksale which we
held in the morning at the Scout Hut.

Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service
We joined 1st Prestwood Scout Group and Great Missenden District Guides at Holy Trinity Church in Prestwood
for a Remembrance Parade and Service.

Conservation Workday at Holy Trinity Church
We joined Prestwood Nature and the parishioners of Holy Trinty Prestwood once again to tackle the
jungle in the churchyard. This was a great chance to do some valuable work outside and to gain some hours of
service for the Community Challenge.

Autumn Camp
We camped at Braidwood campsite for two nights at the start of the half term break. It was not actually that
cold, but quite wet on Saturday morning and windy in the evening.

District 5-A-Side Football Competition
We entered two teams in the District 5-A-Side Competition. Both teams tried hard, and definitely improved as
the afternoon went on. We didn't make it past the first round, but there's always next year...

County Orienteering Competition
On the morning of Saturday 10th October Cubs and Scouts from 1st Great Missenden competed in the annual
County Orienteering Competition in Wendover Woods.

Dragon Boating Competition
We entered a team in the competition at Longridge. We had 18 Scouts and a drummer in our team, and had two
races. It was our first try at the event and the competition was tough...

County PL Camp
County again held a camp for PLs/APLs and older Scouts (13+). It was a little later in the term this year so hopefully more Troops will be able to attend.

Pirate Camp
We will be having a camp on at Longridge by the Thames to celebrate Internation Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Weekend Camp
At the end of June we camped once again at Youlbury National Scout Centre near Oxford. It was a fun camp full
of activities and it was also a chance to work towards the Outdoor Challenge.

Shelterbox Scavenger Hunt
Four Scouts spent the first day of the half term break in London, on a scavenger hunt with a big green box to
raise awareness for the charity Shelterbox..

County Water Activities Weekend at Longridge
This is always a fun camp. There are lots of opportunities to take part in water activities.

District Night Hike
A Night Hike where the Scouts compete in teams of 4-6 people, and complete various challenges on the way round.
It is Red Nose day so don't forget your Red Nose. We may also do it as a sponsored activity for Red Nose
Day.

February Camp
12 Scouts and 3 Leaders spent the last weekend of halfterm camping at Braidwood. We were forecast terrible
weather but actually had a very mild and sunny camp (though a bit cold at night).
