The individual points competition runs from 1st September to 31st August.

If badges are earned through Troop activities (such as Nights Away, Hikes Away etc) towards the end of the summer term and there is not another meeting to award them, then the points will be added to the Scouts total for that year and the badges presented to the Scout at the first available meeting.

If a Scout decides to work on badges themselves during the summer holidays (activity or challenge badges) then they can choose whether the points should be added to the year that is about to end or if they should be saved to be credited at the start of the new year in September.

If two or more Scouts are actively contesting the Scout of the Year trophy and want to work during the summer holidays to earn extra points, then normally the points will be added but not updated on the website, so that each Scout only knows their own total. The points will then be made public after the deadline of 31st August.
