| Troop Uniform |
Uniform should be worn to all meetings unless we say otherwise (e.g. if we are doing something messy). On some
occasions we will ask the Scouts just to wear the shirt and scarf, and at other times just the scarf. Scouts can
bring other clothes and footwear to our weekly meetings to change into once we have done the flag break (they will
need to change back again at the end of the evening). Scouts should travel in uniform to Scouting events such as
camps and trips. There are certain occasions when full and smart uniform are essential - e.g. St. George's Day
and Remembrance Sunday.
Scouts wear a greenish Scout shirt, navy Scout trousers (or other navy cargo trousers or smart black or navy trousers), a Group scarf (green and orange) and school shoes or
boots. They may also wear a Scout belt if they like.
Below is a diagram showing where the badges should be sewn on the uniform. There are also a few notes about the
different badges
- The logo is the Scout logo, which is already embroidered on the shirt.
- The union flag is only awarded if travelling abroad on a Scouting event.
- The Group Badge is the one with the hot air balloon on it, and it is sewn onto the point of the scarf.
- The new participation awards (small square badges) are awarded each year on the anniversary of first being
invested into the movement. They are added to each year - you don't have to remove the previous one.
- Both the blue with red border activity badges and light blue with purple border staged activity badges go on
the left sleeve. You only wear one of each staged activity badge, and this should be the highest stage
that you have achieved. E.g. only wear a 10 Nights Away, not a 10 Nights Away and a 5 Nights Away and a 1
Nights Away badge.
- There are now 9 Challenge Badges, and these should be arranged in a diamond as shown.
